Threads 130: Celebrating the basketry collections move to Middleville Museum

The Strawberry Social at Middleville Museum was a delight.

A ribbon ceremony kicked off the day to officially welcome the Lanark Highlands Basketry Museum’s Collection and honour Ankaret Dean’s contribution and legacy to basketry.

About 200 people came through, and 34 new basketmakers walked away with a pottle basket they made themselves. A whirlwind three hours. It was a new record teaching beginners this quickly and every single participant left with a basket in hand.
