This half day, 4 hour class is open to adults with no previous weaving experience.

This openwork tray displays stunning geometry as well as the natural beauty of willow. Lined with linen, these trays make great serving trays for bread, or are equally at home adorning your wall, displaying your handiwork.

Unlike many other types of baskets made with willow, these trays can be made with fresh cut and foraged willows. This makes this form both functional, beautiful---and practical for those who do not have access to equipment necessary for soaking willow. The basket can be made with different variations and during the class we will focus on a variation using 6 sets of rods. The rods are assembled, bent into place and then pulled to create a sturdy basket.

Weaving can be very physical, and if you have issues with your hands/arms/wrists/back this may prove challenging. If you are new to weaving you may need to stay a bit longer to pull the basket in tighter, or bring it home with you to finish.

Additional willow for repeating your basket can be made available at request.

All tools needed are provided by the instructor.

The finished basket will be approximately 12" in diameter but can be left larger if you choose.
